PURPOSE: A method for controlling an echo and a tone quality in an A/V system is provided to use a microphone in an optimal state by automatically controlling the echo and tone quality according a usage object. CONSTITUTION: It is judged whether a mode selected by a user is an automatic echo mode(S11). The mode selected by a user is the automatic echo mode, it is judged whether an output of a signal sensor is equal to or greater than a reference voltage. When the output of a signal sensor is less than the reference voltage, an echo value is set to 0(S13). A tone quality is automatically switched to a news mode(S14). When the output of a signal sensor is equal to or greater than the reference voltage, the echo value is not changed(S15). The tone quality is automatically switched to a music mode(S16). It is judged whether the automatic echo mode is off(S17).
