The self-pumping hydropneumatic spring strut has an oil-filled working cylinder, a piston pump and an integral control drive or a separate control drive between the strut and the vehicle body that displaces it in the vertical direction. The self-pumping hydropneumatic spring strut has an oil-filled working cylinder under the pressure of at least one gas cushion acting as a spring divided by a working piston on a piston rod into two working chambers and a piston pump driven by the spring movement delivering oil from a low pressure chamber that connects a working chamber to the low pressure chamber via a regulating opening closable depending on the piston position. The strut (2) has an integral control drive or a separate control drive (3) between the strut and vehicle body that displaces it in the vertical direction.
