The headlamp has a housing (11), a gas discharge lamp (12) in the housing and a light panel (13) that closes the housing. The angle between the main beam direction (16) and the vehicle longitudinal axis (17) is adjustable. A lens element (15) in front of the gas discharge lamp has a gimbal suspension arrangement (6,7,9) mounted close to the light panel for the lens element. The lens element is rotated about two axes by two motors.
