Leak tester (1) has a test-gas reservoir (2) with outlet pipes (7, 8) each with a leak-rate determination element (12, 13). The outlets of the outlets openings (9, 10) are spatially separated from each other. Typically the leak-rate determination elements are plastic coated quartz capillaries. If the flow rate through the outlets is not the same then the device is not functioning correctly. The test gas from one of the outlets is supplied to the device under test and only if the gas flow through both of the outlets is the same is the flow through the test device assumed to be correct.
