The present invention contemplates a slot machine with a card payment system. The slot machine may have a payment system adapted for use with a credit card or debit card such that a customer may use a credit card or debit card to pay for his/her chances to play. The present invention also contemplates a machine that dispenses state lottery tickets or "scratch off" state lottery cards which may incorporate card technology. In some venues, these gaming machines may have to be activated by a venue employee after viewing proof of the age of the customer. Further, the gaming machines may allow multiple chances to play per payment.
