A multifunctional encapsulated biologically-active nutritive component consists a ballast-containing core covered by a biologically-active substance, the core and covering are also provided with encapsulating material(s). An Independent claim is also included for production of the component by introducing one or more biologically-active substances into a medium containing an encapsulating agent and then adding ballast material, followed by mixing and removal of the solvent and/or dispersant.
