Use, in the manufacture of a medicament suitable for local application to the eyes for use in combination with a beta -blocker for the treatment of ocular hypertension and/or glaucoma, of a compound of general formula (I): <CHEM> wherein: R<1> represents alkyl, alkenyl or a group of formula R<5>-A-B- (R<5> represents hydrogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl or aliphatic acyl, A represents oxygen or sulfur, and B represents a single bond or alkylene); R<2> represents alkyl, alkenyl or a group of formula -C(R<6>)(R<7>)(R<8>) (R<6> represents hydroxyl or alkoxy, and R<7> and R<8> represent hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl); R<3> represents carboxyl or a group of formula -CON(R<9>)(R<10>) (R<9> and R<10> represent hydrogen or alkyl optionally substituted by 1 to 3 substituents from Substituent group (I)); and optionally substituted by 1 to 3 substituents from Substituent group (I)); and R<4> represents carboxyl, carboxycarbonyl or tetrazol-5-yl; substituent group (I): aryl, 5- or 6-membered heteroaromatic ring group, halogen, hydroxyl, alkoxy, carboxyl, alkoxycarbonyl, amino, aliphatic acylamide and aromatic acylamide.
