<p>A seal system for two mechanical members coupled for relative rotation, such as two rings of a rolling element bearing, which includes a first screen (8) securely fixed to one ring (5) and a second screen (16) securely fixed to the other ring (3); the first screen (8) has an annular sealing member (14), with a sliding lip, for interfering with the second screen (16), which comprises a metal reinforcement (15) covered with a protective layer (20) of elastomeric material which is moulded together with the reinforcement itself, which is constituted by a radial surface (15a) with an integral cylindrical portion (15b) bent to form a right angle, and is mountable on the ring (3) of the bearing with the interposition of an intermediate layer (21) of the same elastomeric material; the ring (3) of the bearing which carries the second screen (16) has at least one circular or helical peripheral groove (32) formed in a cylindrical surface (18) facing the second screen (16), which can be engaged/filled resiliently by the elastomer of the intermediate layer in order to ensure correct axial positioning of the screen (16) relative to the corresponding ring (3); for preference, the intermediate elastomeric layer (21) has an annular radially projecting rib (33), operable to snap-engage the groove in the ring, in order to improve the accuracy and stability of the positioning of the reinforcement (16) on the ring (3) and to prevent any leakage of lubricant between the coupled surfaces. <IMAGE></p> |
