optics. SUBSTANCE: reflecting optical device has base made in the form of optical graphite fixture. Layer of rhenium on which layer of iridium is deposited is deposited on surface of graphite base. Optical surface of graphite base is polished to quality of 0.05 mum as minimum. Layers of rhenium and iridium are polished or lapped to removal of deviations. Reflecting optical device can additionally include layer of rhodium deposited on layer of iridium.
