The stationary structure does not contain any motorized controls, the latter are carried by a robot outside the stationary structure. The robot (1) handles at least one of the parts of the cylinder block. The stationary structure includes a pressure system (25,42,43) for the robots motorized unit (23) when the movement which it generates creates reaction forces greater than that it can control without deformation of the robot. Assembly line unit for assembly of mechanical parts of a an engine cylinder block (3) of a thermal engine having two plane faces. On the upper face (3b) is placed the cylinder head and on the lower face (3a) the oil sump. The unit has two parts, a stationary structure on which the parts to be assembled are placed and a robotic motorized arm which manipulates the parts to be assembled on the stationary structure. Units include those for fitting crankshaft half bearings, detecting the presence of these bearings, fitting oil sprays, drilling holes and fitting ferrules in the cylinder block; control of the distance separating the upper face of a cylinder block from each crankshaft clankpin in top dead center position, etc. |
