An organic EL element maintaining emission characteristics for long periods of time comprising: a laminate having a structure such that organic EL material layers are sandwiched between a pair of opposite electrodes; a sealed container into which is placed said laminate; and a drying member which is placed in said sealed container and prevents contamination of said organic EL material layers by moisture, wherein said drying member is formed of an organometallic compound. The organometallic compound adsorbs chemically water and functions as an adhering agent for other physical drying agents and chemical drying agents and has no adverse effect on the organic EL element and can prevent growth of a dark spot. |
