PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To narrow the opening width of the groove of a groove hole of a plate cylinder and to grip a press plate without loosening even without confirming the stopping angle of gripping bars. SOLUTION: The press plate quick gripping device for a plate cylinder inserts the gripper end side 6a and the other end 6b of a press plate 6 mounted on a plate cylinder 1 from the groove 3 of the groove hole 2 axially provided near the surface of the plate cylinder 1, engages the gripper side with the one gripper edge 5a of the groove hole, and rotates the gripping bar 7 inserted into the hole by a spring to quickly grip the other end of the plate. In the device, the other end 6b of the plate 1 is formed in one stage folding shape so that the folding end side becomes a shape opposed to the inner surface of the edge 5b in the groove, and a gripper plate 10 for pressing the other end of the plate opposed to the inner surface of the edge 5b to the inner surface of the gripper edge is fixed to the bar 7 in a state in which the bar is rotated in the gripping direction.
