PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject center rope having resolved such problems that weight material pieces are disaggregated and scattered due to tensile force thereon or their chafing, and during rope making process, ropes are mutually entangled, resulting in a hindrance for rope making operation, and furthermore, ropes thus finished have a rough hand touch because of outside exposure of weight material pieces out of single filaments or daughter cords and therefore cannot be handled smoothly. SOLUTION: This center rope is obtained by covering 1, with an elastic synthetic resin such as polyethylene, a rope bearing a sequence of weight material pieces 2 and made by mutually connecting at given intervals these pieces 2 each of a given length through a bundle of filaments 3 having high tensile strength such as synthetic fibers.
