PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a 5-carboxanilide-haloalkylthiazole salt useful as antibacterial agent, antifungal agent, antimicrobial agent, marine pollution-preventing agent, and termiticide, to provide a composition containing the compound, and to provide a method for using the same. SOLUTION: A compound of the formula [A is a strongly basic cation; R1 and R2 are each a 1 to 5C alkyl or a 1 to 2C haloalkyl, provided that at least one of R1 and R2 is the (1 to 2C) haloalkyl; each R is independently a halogen, a halo (1 to 5C) alkyl or the like; (n) is 1 to 5].
