PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic operating escalator capable of enabling its operations to be easily automated later on with its setting area made small for the entire equipment of the escalator. SOLUTION: This automatic operating escalator 1 is set up over a landing floor 3 so as to be provided with both a passenger detector 7 detecting the presence of any passenger running toward foot steps 4, and an introduction fence 9 housing a control section 8 for the detector 7 for the side part of the landing floor 3 in the longer direction.
