PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat treatment process to satisfy the requirement for the mechanical strength of a wire because precision machining such as serration is required for the card wire used for textile processing. SOLUTION: An extension wire has not yet a sufficiently small sectional area. The wire is heat treated so as to have a fine structure to enable the re-working. The precision wire manufacturing apparatus comprises a first furnace 10, a first cooling unit 20, a second furnace 30 and a second cooling unit so as to be operated in a continuous mode. The temperature profile of each unit is shown in Fig. (b). The wire is heated to about 900 deg.C in the furnace 10, and then, cooled to about 500 deg.C in the cooling unit 20, this temperature is maintained in the furnace 30, and then, the wire is cooled to the room temperature in the cooling unit 40. Fig. (c) shows the temperature profile to achieve the hardening and the annealing. Large change in temperature is shown therein.
