PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new water treating device easily and efficiently sterilizing water to be treated stored in a water tank. SOLUTION: Two sets or more electrode groups 11 each consisting of at least two sheets of electrode plates 110 in a state to be individually supplied with electric power, are arranged in a water treating path 10 for allowing the water to be treated to flow, which is connected with a water tank 2, and the number of the energized electrode groups 11 is switched, based on the measured result of residual chlorine concentration in the water W to be treated by a residual chlorine sensor S2. For example, in the case that the water tank 2 is a pool etc., while the number of the energized electrode groups 11 is switched, in accordance of the residual chlorine concentration in the water W to be treated which changes corresponding to the number of an attendance, the water W to be treated is efficiently sterilized by an electrochemical reaction.
