PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a decompression device for an engine in a simple structure, with space saving, and excellent in maintenance performance. SOLUTION: In a cam direct striking type four cycle engine 1 for operating an exhaust valve 2 and an intake valve 3 through tappets 6, 7 with cams 4, 5 by arranging the exhaust valve 2 and the intake valve 3 on a cylinder head 10, a decompression device 40 is provided with a decompression shaft 41 disposed in a direction which is nearly perpendicular to an axial core with respect to a vehicle advancing direction, and is also provided with a valve operating part 42 which is arranged in the vicinity of the tappet 6 in the cylinder head 10 and which is provided with an outer peripheral part whose one part abuts on a top surface of the tappet 6 and is push-pressed, and an operating lever 43 for rotating the decompression shaft 41 on an engine 1 side part of a direction which is nearly perpendicular to the vehicle advancing direction. |
