PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent lowering of performance by over compression in a scroll compressor used for an air conditioner for official and domestic uses. SOLUTION: An offset part 36 is arranged on a lap outside wall 31a in the vicinity of the beginning of the winding of the lap 31 of a movable scroll so as to thin the lap 31, so that a narrow clearance can be formed in a contact point of the lap 31 between a compression chamber and a discharge chamber with the lap of a fixed scroll. When the volume of the compression chamber is decreased, to cause over compression with pressure in the compression chamber exceeding the high side pressure of a refrigerating cycle, refrigerant gas flows to the discharge chamber from the compression chamber through the narrow clearance, so that increase of pressure in the compression chamber can be suppressed. This scroll compressor can prevent lowering of performance caused by over compression and has high efficiency.
