PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a closed compressor capable of improving sealing ability and oil film retaining ability of the cylindrical outer peripheral surface of a shoe and the cylindrical hole-like inner peripheral surface of a cylinder, attaining high volume efficiency and decreasing performance deterioration, and provide a machining method capable of machining the cylindrical outer peripheral surface of the shoe at a low cost and with high accuracy. SOLUTION: In this closed compressor, incorporated is a shoe having a piston provided with a plate-like vane integrally projected on a cylindrical part, a flat surface part slidably abutting on the flat surface part of a vane between the vane part and the cylindrical hole part of the cylinder, and a cylindrical outer peripheral surface slidably abutting on the cylindrical inner peripheral surface of the cylindrical hole part. The compressor is characterized in that at least an unidirectional circular arc-like machining streak is formed in the cylindrical outer peripheral surface of the shoe to improve oil film retaining ability. This machining method is capable of machining the cylindrical outer peripheral surface of the shoe with high accuracy.
