PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To resist the fluctuation of internal and external pressure while obtaining backup working effective to external earth pressure or the like, and to lower generated stress and improve durability by limiting the quantity of a shielding material deformed in the case of these pressure fluctuation. SOLUTION: The flexible sealing mechanism has a flexible segment installed between rigid-body segments in a shield tunneling method, fixing sections to the rigid-body segments are formed at both end sections of the flexible segments while a constraining section 5 is formed to the internal surface of an intermediate section, and pinching sections 16 oppositely mounted between the rigid-body segments are retained to the constraining section 5.
