PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an alcoholic compound by utilizing transesterification reaction of an ester compound. SOLUTION: This method for producing an alcoholic compound represented by general formula (3): R2OH is to react an ester compound represented by general formula (1): R1COOR2 with an alcoholic compound represented by general formula (2): R3OH in the presence of an organotin compound, wherein R1 and R2 are each a (substituted) alkyl, aralkyl, aryl or allyl; and R3 is a (substituted) alkyl, aralkyl, aryl or allyl.
