PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon black dispersant which is excellent in capability for dispersing a carbon black pigment and enables a carbon black dispersion excellent in viscosity stability to be produced, and to provide a black ink for writing or recording which is prepared by using the dispersant and an alcohol- soluble resin and has a low viscosity and in which a pigment is well dispersed. SOLUTION: A compound represented by formula I, wherein X is an acylamino group; and Y is, e.g. an anthraquinonylamino group having a hydrogen atom or an acylamino group bonded to the 4-position is used as the dispersant.
