PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a novel polymerization catalyst. SOLUTION: The catalyst for polymerizing an olefin is composed of a component (A) obtained by mixing a transition metal compound represented by general formula (1): MXlLm (wherein M is Cr or Ni; X is a halogen; L is an organic ligand; and (l) and (m) are each 0-6) with a disulfide-crosslinked diimidazole compound represented by general formula (2), an organoaluminum compound (B) and a boron compound (C).
