PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a pneumatic radial tire in road noise performance. SOLUTION: The end portion YS of a band layer 9 is provided with an edge band ply 11A forming a different level D having the increased number of plies compared with the center portion YC. A shoulder region TS is provided on a crown region TC via a folded point P in the border line T of the belt ply 7A having the maximum width of a belt layer 7. The point P is positioned within a range of 15 mm inside and outside in the tire axial direction of the difference D. An angleαis made 3 deg.-11 deg. which is formed of the normals of the region TC at the point P and the region TS.
