PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing 2-fluoroacrylic acid or an ester thereof by using an industrially advantageous raw material compound, while hardly providing problems in the points or the like of the treatment of byproducts and the safety. SOLUTION: 2-Bromo-2-fluoropropionic acid or an ester thereof is subjected to a dehydrobromination reaction in the presence of a basic compound to provide the objective 2-fluoroacrylic acid or the ester thereof.
