PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a short by a software, without requiring a direct-current power supply circuit and the like for detecting the short. SOLUTION: This short detector detects the short in a transmitting/receiving means for receiving a specified transmitting signal sent from a transmitting means by a receiving means to carry out a specified processing. In the short detector is composed of a detecting means for detecting the short at a receiving level in the receiving means is not less than a predetermined value, a calculating means for calculating the change of rising in the receiving level per specified unit time in the receiving means, and a detecting means for detecting the short when the calculated change of rising of the receiving level shows a short state.
