PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus in which incomplete electrical bond between a recording head 2 and a carriage 15 is corrected automatically without having any adverse effect on the image being formed on a recording sheet 1. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus comprises a carriage 15 for holding a recording head 2 removably, and an electrical contact between the recording head 2 and the carriage 15 wherein the carriage 15 reciprocates to form an image on a recording sheet 1. Means 20 for pressing the recording head 2 at a region other than the recording region of the recording sheet 1 is provided and the recording head 2 is pressed by the pressing means 20 upon detection of incomplete electrical connection.
