PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To position a clamp by automatically selecting a position not to interfere with a dead zone of a product. SOLUTION: A clamping region detection and processing part 23 detects a clamping region A between both ends of a side edge F of a plate material W. A setting clamp number computation and processing part 25 finds a clamping number N to set in accordance with a total clamp number T free to set in the detected clampin region A and an actual clamping number R. A clamping optimum position setting and processing part 26 sets an optimum position O of each of clamps C between the both ends in accordance with the found clamping number N. A clamp setting position deciding and processing part 29 decides a position nearest to the optimum position O in the clamping region A as a setting position S of each of the clamps C.
