PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cut a sweet potato in the diametric direction into two pieces in forming seed potatoes from the sweet potato, pr processing the sweet potato. SOLUTION: (1) This device is provided with an endless conveyor 1 on which sweet potatoes are laterally placed to be conveyed, and a rotary cutting blade 3 provided to face a roughly center part of a width of a conveyance end part of the endless conveyor 1 for diametrically cutting the sweet potato conveyed by the endless conveyor 1 into two pieces. (2) A high pressure air jet nozzle 7 for jetting high pressure air to the rotary cutting blade 3 is provided for eliminating and disposing of cutting scraps of the sweet potatoes attached to the rotary cutting blade 3. (3) A sweet potato fixing means 6 movable as the sweet potato P is fixed to the surface of the endless conveyor 1 is provided for cutting the sweet potato by the rotary cutting blade 3 as it is fixed against external force. (4) The rotary cutting blade 3 is formed circular, with angular edge tips 3b and triangular edge tips 3a alternately disposed and formed on the outer circumference of it.
