PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester resin for molding which is used for producing containers, films, sheets, or the like, contains only small amounts of monomers [e.g. terephthalic acid, bis-(2-hydroxyethyl) terephthalate, and mono(2- hydroxyethyl) terephthalate] and linear oligomers, and hence hardly causes mold staining due to monomers or oligomers when molded. SOLUTION: This polyester resin is produced from terephthalic acid as the dicarboxylic acid component and ethylene glycol as the glycol component. In the resin, the content of free terephthalic acid is 30 ppm or lower; the sum of contents of free bis(2-hydroxyethyl) terephthalate and free mono(2- hydroxyethyl) terephthalate is 100 ppm or lower; and the sum of contents of free monomers and linear oligomers is 700 ppm or lower. |
