PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve starting feeling by properly and certainly starting an engine, in an engine control device. SOLUTION: This engine control device automatically stops an engine 11 when an engine automatic stop condition is satisfied, and automatically starts the engine 11 under the condition that a transmission is disposed in a neutral position and a clutch pedal 31 is depressed as an automatic start condition. In the engine control device, the engine 11 is prohibited to start for a specified period after automatically stopping of the engine 11 even if the automatic start condition is satisfied, and the engine 11 is automatically started regardless of an actuating position of the transmission, when detecting the depressing operation of the clutch pedal at a point of time just after a predetermine time has passed or during a specified period after the predetermine time has paseed in the case where the automatic start condition is satisfied.
