PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the subject device enabling a snagged object to be recovered smoothly and perfectly when a gear such as a lure is accidentally snagged on a rock, or the like, in a fishing activity, even if the snagged situation represent an extreme difficulty. SOLUTION: This snag recovery device has such a scheme that the rotation of a sliding wheel intended to slidingly move, along a fishline, a midget submarine-like recovery gear body furnished with seizing metal fittings having a hook in an openable state through mutually engagement on the tip, by the aid of the rotational action of the sliding wheel axially set near behind the recovery gear body, and is such one that a selected torque in the identical direction is transmitted with a backstop gear for both the left and right rotations of a driving wheel coming from the pulling force of a recovery yarn of a swing element interposed inside the recovery gear body and the swing motion owing to the restorative action of a spring.
