PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the breakage of a green compact, in particular, a small diameter portion in carrying the green compact having a flange portion on an upper part of the small diameter portion. SOLUTION: When the green compact 1 is carried, the green compact 1 is held from both sides thereof by a pair of chuck bodies 11 to be engaged with a lower side of the flange portion 3. The chuck bodies 11 are inclined in the descending direction toward a tip edge, and comprises a flange portion supporting surface 16 with the flange portion 3 placed thereon and a substantially V-shaped flange portion holding surface 18 in contact with an outer circumferential surface of the flange portion 3. The height of the flange portion supporting surface 16 is set so that a lower end of the green compact 1 is located higher than the lower side of the chuck bodies 11 when the green compact 1 is held.
