PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image-forming apparatus which can realize highly fine and high-quality printing even when printing at a high speed by improving a paper transfer accuracy. SOLUTION: The image-forming apparatus 10 has a paper feed roller 3 for transferring a paper 2 to a printing part 1, and a carriage 5 with a head (not illustrated) for discharging ink at the printing part 1. In the apparatus, the carriage 5 is scanned almost perpendicularly to a paper transfer direction thereby executing printing while the paper 2 is intermittently sent by a predetermined amount. The paper 2 has detection marks 6 printed at constant intervals to non-printing parts. A detection mark sensor 7 is set to the lower stream side than the printing part 1 for detecting the detection marks 6. The feed roller 3 for the paper 2 is controlled to be decelerated when the detection mark sensor 7 detects the detection mark 6.
