PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing apparatus with a cleaning mechanism for an ink-jet head of a high cleaning efficiency. SOLUTION: The printing apparatus has the cleaning mechanism which includes a cleaning member of properties absorbing a liquid in contact with a plurality of ink discharge openings, a washing liquid-supplying device for supplying a washing liquid to the cleaning member, and a pressing member for pressing each of positions of the cleaning member corresponding to the plurality of ink discharge openings from the opposite side of the plurality of ink discharge openings. The pressing member can press the cleaning member to the plurality of ink discharge openings by a uniform pressure.
