PURPOSE: To overcome such defects with the conventional applicator for tampons that both of an outer cylinder and an inner cylinder are injection molded and are therefore high in cost, that there is a limit in making the inner cylinder thin and small in diameter from the restriction on injection molding and that the amount of the resin to be used is large. CONSTITUTION: The outer cylinder 1 is injection molded and the inner cylinder 2 is formed of an extrudate formed by extruding a thermoplastic resin to a cylindrical shape and stretching the same in an axial direction. The inner cylinder may therefore be formed thin and small in diameter and particularly the stretched inner cylinder is high in buckling strength. Further, a pressing part 11 for pressing the tampon 3 is formed at the front end of the inner cylinder 2 and an expanding part 12 for pushing the inner cylinder with the fingers is formed at the rear end. The molding of the pressing part 11 and the expanding part 12 is easy as well.
