The invention relates to a dynamic seat shell, with pads for the stable and supportive fixing, in the thoracic region, of physically handicapped people. Said seat shell may be fixed to wheelchairs and permits a limited upper body movement, forwards, to both sides and a corporeal stretching, in particular during a convulsion (stretching spasm). The seat surface (3) is mounted, such that it may tilt towards the front edge thereof, relative to a base plate (1). The invention is characterised in that the backrest (5) is divided at the level of the lumbar region, whereby the lower part of the backrest forms a support surface (3.1) for the posterior, is linked to the upper part of the backrest (5) and is connected to the seat surface, by means of a positive fit. The slope angle ss of the seat surface is adjustable and, thus, provides lumbar region support. In addition the thoracic pads (6) are mounted such that they may pivot in the arc of a circle, which is transverse to the longitudinal axis of the seat shell, whereby the mid-point MR of the arc lies on the longitudinal mid-plane, in the lumbar region of the backrest (5) and the radius of the arc is determined by the separation of the thorax from the lumbar region. Furthermore, elastic tensioners are provided between the support elements of the thorax pads (6) and the backrest (5), the working directions of which are opposed. Pivoted levers (9), or sliding pads with a similar functional effect are provided, whereby the pivot point (10) of the pivoted lever (9) is placed at the midpoint MR of the arc. |
