PURPOSE: Provided are apparatus and method for reducing heat dissipation from the molten steel level of continuous casting mould. CONSTITUTION: Heat flow between the formed cast outer shell and the inner surface of the mold, is restrained with comparatively high heat conductive resistance between these parts to reduce the danger of crack on the outer shell of a strand. At this time, the high heat conductive resistance between this formed strand outer shell and the inner surface of the mold is obtained as a result of macro-structure corresponding to this inner surface of the mold.
