PURPOSE: To provide the method of detecting the getting-caught in a power window device capable of detecting the getting-caught-in with a high detecting accuracy by varying, in each moving area, correction reference value set in each moving area. CONSTITUTION: This power window device comprises a window opening and closing motor 4, a motor driving part 3, a pulse generating part 5, an MCU 2, and a window opening and closing switch 1. A full window movement range is divided into a plurality of moving areas, and a reference center value A, a reference allowable value N, and reference value K are set in each moving area. The MCU 2 detects a motor torque value at the time of opening and closing of a window sequentially, and compares a detected motor torque value with the reference value K set in the moving area. When the former exceeds the latter, the MCU 2 judges that being caught in occurs and stops or reverses the rotation of the motor 4. The MCU 2 obtains, for each moving area, a correction reference center value B, a variation rate α, a coefficient of correction β, and a correction reference value C, and the correction reference value C is taken as the correction reference value for a center point in the moving area. A correction reference line (c) obtained by connecting, through a linear line, the correction reference values C for the center points in the moving areas adjacent to each other is set, and the correction reference line (c) is compared with a motor torque value for each moving area so as to judge on whether getting-caught-in is present or not.
