PURPOSE: To sufficiently prevent damage from being inflicted to the collar part of a tail plug (or the collar part of a pen ball point retainer) or the end part of a barrel with a function to easily remove the tail plug (or the pen ball point retainer). CONSTITUTION: A writing material 1 consists of a barrel 4 and a tail plug 4. The barrel 4 has a pen ball point 7 provided at the tip and also ink internally stored. Further, the tail plug 2 is mounted, in a freely detachable/attachable manner, in the rear end opening of the barrel 4. The tail plug 2 has a collar part 21 exposed behind the rear end part of the barrel 4. Besides, a groove 5 for prying the collar part 21 is formed between the front face of the collar part 21 and the rear end part of the barrel 4. The groove 5 is formed deeper in the diametral direction than the inner face of the rear end opening of the barrel 4.
