PURPOSE: To obtain a device having enough driving circuits for pixels even when the number of pixels is increased. CONSTITUTION: Signal lines to drive pixels and driving circuits connected to the signal lines are formed on the liquid crystal side of one substrate of substrates disposed facing each other through a liquid crystal. The driving circuits consist of a film substrate, line layers formed on the film substrate, and semiconductor chips mounted on the film substrate. Some of the line layers are connected to the bumps of the semiconductor chips and then extended below the semiconductor chips to the peripheral part of the film substrate.
