PURPOSE: An independent refrigerator and an operating method thereof are provided to independently sustain the optimal temperature and humidity in a freezer compartment and a refrigerating compartment and to prevent the loss of cold air by differently supplying cold air to the freezer compartment and the refrigerating compartment corresponding to the temperature of the freezer compartment and the refrigerating compartment. CONSTITUTION: An independent refrigerator body(100) is divided into a refrigerating compartment(120) and a freezer compartment(130) by a partition(110). Evaporators(121,131) and blower fans(122,132) are installed on respective rear walls of the refrigerating compartment and the freezer compartment. Capillary tubes are installed at respective inlets of the evaporators. A bypass pipe having an on/off valve is communicated to the inlet of the second capillary tube to control evaporation of a refrigerant. Cold air is independently supplied to the refrigerating compartment and the freezer compartment via respective evaporators and blower fans corresponding to the temperature of the refrigerating compartment and the freezer compartment.
