PURPOSE:To always discriminate the position of an object whether the line of sight can be detected or not as for a camera provided with a means for detecting the line of sight. CONSTITUTION:As for the camera provided with the means for detecting the line of sight 102 for detecting the position of the line of sight of a photographer in field which is caught by an image-formation optical system 101 as the position of the object; the position of the object in the field is obtained based on a photometry means 111 for measuring light intensity distribution in the field and the light intensity distribution obtained by the means 111 and the position of the line of sight obtained till then. A tracking means 112 for tracking the position of the object, a decision means 113 for deciding whether or not the position of the line of sight can be detected by the means 102, and a slection means 114 for selecting any of the positions of the object respectively obtained by the means 102 and 112 in accordance with the decided result by the means 113. |
