PURPOSE: A method for filling an initial fuel is provided for controlled initial fuel filling without giving load on a starter, a fuel supply system, or an internal combustion engine. CONSTITUTION: The initial fuel filling method from a fuel tank(1) to the fuel supply system of the internal combustion engine has a return conduit(11) from the internal combustion engine to the fuel tank(1) and, at least, a fuel pump(3). At least the fuel pump(3) is actuated. A pressure control valve (10) or a pressure regulating valve (13) in the fuel supply system are actuated. And the pressure in the fuel supply system is decided.
