WAVEFORM EQUALIZING CONTROLLER

PURPOSE: A cost efficient waveform equalizing controller with high performance is provided to reduce transmission line distortion of digital signals. CONSTITUTION: The waveform equalizing controller provided with a waveform equalizer(101) that reduces the transmission line distortion of an input signal on the basis of the LMS algorithm to control tap coefficient update, is provided with an error estimate section(102) that estimates an error signal(102S) from an output signal(101S) of the waveform equalizer(101) and provides an output, a step size decision section(104) that generates a step size(104S) of an optional magnitude and provides an output, and a coefficient update amount calculation section(103) that calculates a tap coefficient update amount(106S) on the basis of the error signal(102S), the step size(104S) and data(105S) used for tap coefficient update.
