PURPOSE: An apparatus for image enhancement in a cathode ray tube display comprising an amplifier is provided for a scanning velocity modulating signal. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for image enhancement in a cathode ray tube(CRT) display comprises an amplifier(100, 200, 300, 400) for a scanning velocity modulating signal. The scanning velocity modulating signal has an AC component(Vac) and a DC value(Vdc). A feedback circuit(500) is responsive to power dissipation in the amplifier for controlling the AC component(Vac) and the DC value(Vdc) with a first control signal(I1), and controlling only the DC value(Vdc) with a second control signal(Icomp).
