PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for applying a paper surface-coating agent, by which paper having not only good paper strength but also good water resistance can be obtained. SOLUTION: This method for applying the paper surface-coating agent, characterized by bringing (A) a water-soluble polymer into contact with (B) a polymer latex and then coating within 24 hr.
