PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for safely and efficiently dissipating an unreacted alkylene oxide in a method for producing a hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate, including a process for reacting (meth)acrylic acid with an alkylene oxide and dissipating the unreacted alkylene oxide in the reaction solution. SOLUTION: (1) The dissipation is carried out by using an inert gas and an oxygen concentration in the inert gas is 0.1-5 mol%. (2) The difference in operation pressure between the dissipation process and a process for absorbing the dissipated unreacted alkylene oxide is <=1,000 hPa. (3) The reacting solution after the reaction is directly supplied to the dissipation process without heating or (4) the solution after the dissipation obtained by the dissipation process is partially heated and then resupplied to the dissipation process.
