PURPOSE: An apparatus and its method are provided to allow an user to access the data on the channel by detecting a type of data transmitted through multi-channels of a digital broadcasting signal, displaying the detected data type on each channel. CONSTITUTION: A scanning receiver(13) performs synchronization on a digital broadcasting signal on a selected channel, wherein the digital broadcasting signal has at least one of digital television programming packets and at least one of data packets. A demodulator(14) coupled with the receiver(13) demodulates the digital broadcasting signal. A detector(16) coupled with the demodulator(14) detects the data packets of at least one. A memory(20) coupled with the detector(16) stores a data type contained in the data packets of at least one and a data guide software code for detecting a channel that the detected channel can be used, wherein the data guide software code is used to allow data on a certain channel selected by an operator to be accessed. A processor(18) coupled with the memory(20) executes the data guide software code. An operator interface module(21) coupled with the processor(18) displays the data types detected above and channels that the data types detected above can be used, and allows all displayed channels to be selected. The data contains at least one of links linked to a WEB site. The operator interface module(21) may select at least one of WEB sites, and the processor(18) may be coupled with the at least one of WEB sites. |
